Become a Volunteer!
Powerlifting meets are not possible without volunteers. If you're not sure about competing, but you still want to be involved in the sport, volunteering will get you that close up perspective of all the awesomeness that happens at a meet!
Food and hydration options will be provided for our volunteers... Oh, and you'll also get a sick shirt to wear ;)
Here is a small summary of the roles and responsibilities of each volunteer assignment we have available.
Setup and Take-down - hoping for 10 people
It will take some time to prepare our venue for the event, and we will need all hands on deck to make this go smoothly! We will also be putting out a general call to our lifters after the event if they can stick around to help out. Many hands make light work!
Spotters and Loaders - 5-7 spots
They load the bar with the weight for each attempt as directed by the Platform Manager. During the attempts, these same people will spot the lifter, to ensure their safety should they not complete the lift. There will be a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) spotters needed with some relief throughout the day.
Announcer/MC - 1-2 spots
If you have ever seen a Powerlifting meet, you know that the Announcer is one of the most important roles. You are the VOICE of our event! It will be your responsibility to announce the order of the lifters throughout, and say the phrase "Bar is LOADED!" If we have more than one person interested in being an MC, that's great because relief is always welcome :)
Score Table - 3 spots
We will need three individuals that like working on spreadsheets (wow is this me?! lol). The score table takes the attempt cards from our lifters and enters them in on our database so the Platform Manager can direct the loading of the bar. Our meet will be ran on the technical side from a laptop that displays the current lifter's attempt and current standings of all lifters on a projector screen for the crowd to see. This information is very important for the lifters as well, so we will have a display in the warm-up area, too.
OTHER
If you're interested in volunteering but don't have anything specific in mind, we will definitely still be able to use you :)
If any of these positions interest you, please fill out your information below to help volunteer for the Northwest Maxout!
